BIPSS Roundtable discussion on “Youth Radicalisation: Understanding the Threat Landscape” was held on 10th April at the BIPSS Conference Room. The keynote was presented by Dr. Julian Droogan, Director, Terrorism Research Program, Macquarie University, Australia and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism. The discussion was moderated by BIPSS President Major Gen. ANM Muniruzzaman (retd.). It was attended by several distinguished diplomats, journalists and security specialists in the country. The presentation was followed by a lively discussion. The entire event was live tweeted at twitter handle #YouthRadicalisation.
Mr. Sherman Young, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Macquarie University, Australia, called on President, BIPSS, Major General ANM Munirizzaman (Retd.) in his office on 10th April. They discussed on the matters of mutual interests. The Pro-VC of Macquarie University also explored the potential areas of cooperation and collaboration with BIPSS.

President BIPSS Major General Muniruzzaman attended and spoke at the Strategic Studies Summit held in Ankara,Turkey last week. The yearly summit brings together leading think tanks, strategic thinkers,security experts,policy makers from a large number of countries. This years summit was of special significance as it was held in the back drop of some grave security challenges facing the international system. General Muniruzzaman spoke at an expert panel on the linkages of the Syrian civil war to the spread of ISIS. The summit was also attended by Shafqat Munir, Associate Research Fellow, BIPSS.
It may be mentioned that Strategic Studies Summit is arranged by the Strategic Studies Network (SSN) of the US National Defence University. BIPSS is a member of the SSN. The network undertakes studies on critical strategic and security issues, it's findings/recommendations are widely circulated to policy makers.

BIPSS will be organising a round table discussion titled “Youth Radicalisation : Understanding the Threat Landscape” on 10th April 2016. The keynote paper will be presented by Dr. Julian Droogan, Director of the Terrorism Research Program, Macquarie University, Australia and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism .
Dr. Droogan spent years conducting fieldwork in the Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia. His research interests include countering violent extremism, religious radicalisation, extremist narratives, and the history of terrorism and political violence. The round table will be moderated by Major General ANM Muniruzzaman (Retd), President, BIPSS. President BIPSS, Major General Muniruzzaman (Retd). attended and spoke at the inaugural 'Raisina Dialogue' held in New Delhi. The Raisina Dialogue was jointly organised by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and the Observer Research Foundation, one of India's leading policy think tanks. The Raisina Dialogue was envisioned as India's flagship conference on Geopolitics and Geoeconomics. There were participants from over 120 countries who attended the dialogue and a select number of speakers from 40 countries. General Muniruzzaman spoke at a panel on 'Challenges and Opportunities for Regional Border Management'.
Mr. Shafqat Munir, Associate Research Fellow at BIPSS also attended the Dialogue.
President BIPSS, Major General Muniruzzaman attended the international conference on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) in Singapore last week. The conference was hosted by Centre for Non Traditional Security at NTU in Singapore and was attended by policy planners,humanitarian practitioners, subject experts and others. General Muniruzzaman presented a paper at the conference on response mechanism to humanitarian crisis.
General Muniruzzaman also attended the relaunch of Non Traditional Security-Asia, a network of specialized think tanks and organizations in the Asia Pacific working on NTS. It may also be mentioned that BIPSS is a founder member of the network which started in 2008.
A delegation of Faculty and Students from Environment, Resources and Energy (ERE) Programme at Paul H Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University, USA visited BIPSS on 19 January. Delegation was led by Visiting Research Fellow of SAIS, Anshul Rana. President, Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies (BIPSS) and Chairman, Global Military Advisory Council on Climate Change (GMACCC) Major General A N M Muniruzzaman, ndc, psc (Retd) briefed them on "Security Implications of Climate Change”. Presentation was followed by lively question and answer session.
The visiting delegation was briefed about BIPSS and GMACCC’s participation in COP21 Climate Summit in Paris in December 2015.They were also briefed about other climate change related activities of the institute.
