President BIPSS attended a regional conference on 'Cooperative Development, Peace and Security in South Asia' in Kathmandu, Nepal from 15-16 February, 2014
President BIPSS, Major General Muniruzzaman (Retd). attended at a regional conference on 'Cooperative Development, Peace and Security in South Asia' held in Kathmandu, Nepal from 15-16 February '14. The conference was organised by the Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development (CRRID), India and the Centre for South Asian Studies, Nepal. The attendees included representatives from think tanks and the strategic community of South Asian countries, academics, officials and representatives from the SAARC Secretariat as well as members of the media.
General Muniruzzaman presented a paper on 'Non-Traditional Security Issues in South Asia' at the conference. The conference was innaugurated by H.E. Sushil Kumar Koirala, Hon. Prime Minister of Nepal.
President BIPSS, Major General Muniruzzaman (Retd.) visited Washington D.C. from January 12, 2014 to participate in a simulation game to be conducted by the Center for Naval Analyses (CNA). The game was based on South Asian security particularly from the non-traditional security angle. The Gaming Team and experts tested and played the game on multiple security scenarios.
President BIPSS, Major General Muniruzzaman attended the 3rd Yunnan-Bangladesh Cooperation Dialogue in Kunming, China, 31st December 2013
The 3rd Yunnan-Bangladesh Cooperation Dialogue has been held in Kunming, China on 31st December, 2013. It was an annual track 1.5 dialogue held between Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies (BIPSS) and Yunnan Development and Research Centre (YDRC) of Yunnan provincial government of China. The dialogue was held alternatively in Dhaka and Kunming.
“Pragmatic Cooperation on BCIM Growth Corridor” as the broad theme, the forthcoming dialogue looked into Industrial Cooperation, Land Connectivity, Maritime Cooperation and People to People Connectivity.
A four member delegation led by President, BIPSS Major General Muniruzzaman (Retd.) was traveling to Kunming in the last week of December to present at the Dialogue.
Mr. Russell Pepe, Chief of Party of project called PRODIP-Promoting Democratic Institution and Practices , from The Asia Foundation visited BIPSS today (17 December 2013). During the visit, he was briefed on the different activities of the institute. The briefing was followed by a wide ranging discussion on strategic and security issues concerning Bangladesh.

President BIPSS, Major General Muniruzzaman (Retd). attend the Global Humanitarian Summit 2013, held at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York City from 11th to 14th December, 2013. The Summit brought together key policy planners, experts and practitioners to deliberate on the emerging issues in the field of humanitarian operations and intervention.
The summit was organized under the auspices of the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA).
President BIPSS, Major General Muniruzzaman (Retd.) was the keynote speaker at the Humanitarian Interventions Conference in Geneva, Switzerland. The conference was jointly hosted by the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) was commence on 03 December 2013. It was attended by policy planners and practitioners in the field of humanitarian operations.
General Muniruzzaman's keynote address was titled 'Security Implications of Climate Change: Its Impact on National and Regional Stability'. It could be mentioned that General Muniruzzaman is currently the Chairman of the Global Military Advisory Council on Climate Change (GMACCC).
