BIPSS held a special roundtable at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) in Washington DC on October 8, 2014. It may be mentioned that USIP is an institute established and funded by the US Congress and works on increasing capacity to manage international conflict without violence. Presentations were made from BIPSS side on politics, security, socioeconomic issues etc. related to Bangladesh. The roundtable was attended by core members of USIP.
President, BIPSS, Major General Muniruzzaman (Retd.) and Mr. Shafqat Munir, Associate Research Fellow were invited to speak at a roundtable titled "A Conversation on Bangladesh and the South Asian Security Environment" at the United States National Defense University (NDU) in Washington DC on October 7, 2014. During their Presentations various aspects of South Asian security were highlighted with a special reference to Bangladesh. The roundtable was attended by senior members of NDU faculty and other members of the University.
A conference on Bangladesh was jointly organised by BIPSS and the American Security Project (ASP) in Washington DC on October 6, 2014. Panelists were drawn from both Bangladesh and the United States. The speakers deliberated on different aspects of politics, security, economy, trade etc. related to Bangladesh. The conference was attended by the US policy community, academics, think tanks, media, security analysts and the private sector. A similar event was jointly organised by BIPSS and ASP in October 2013.

BIPSS and the South Asia Center of the Atlantic Council jointly organised a roundtable titled 'Bangladesh In Focus' in Washington DC
On 01 October 2014, BIPSS and the South Asia Center of the Atlantic Council jointly organised a roundtable titled 'Bangladesh In Focus' in Washington DC. Panelists included Ambassador Teresita Schaffer from the Brookings Institution, Ambassador Bill Milam from the Wison Center, Dr. Robert Boggs from the National Defense University, Dr. Stephen Tankel from American University along with Major General Muniruzzaman (Retd). and Mr. Shafqat Munir from the institute.
Speakers at the roundtable deliberated on the various political and security challenges confronting Bangladesh, Bangladesh's regional relations and an overall economic outlook. The event was attended by representatives from State Department, Department of Defense, various agencies of the US governement, think tanks, universities, private sector and diplomatic missions in Washington DC.
President BIPSS will deliver Keynote Speech at an International Conference on 'Conflict and Environment’ in Stockholm, Sweden
President, BIPSS Major General Muniruzzaman [Retd] has been invited to deliver the keynote speech at an international conference on 'Conflict and Environment'. The conference organised by the Swedish Defense Research Agency (FOI) will be held in Stockholm, Sweden this week. His speech will cover various aspects of environmental issues related to stability operations and crisis management. General Muniruzzman is the current chair of the Global Military Advisory Council on Climate Change (GMACCC).
During this visit he will also speak at other leading think tanks in Sweden.
President BIPSS, Major General Muniruzzaman (Retd) spoke at the United Nations Climate Summit event in New York City on 22-23 September, 2014. General Muniruzzaman who is also the current Chair of the Global Military Advisory Council on Climate Change [GMACCC] was part of a panel on Climate Security. He explained to a large audience of international policymakers on the grave challenges to international stability and security posed by Climate Change.
