Roundtable, meet the press at Goethe Institute

The German Embassy, the Goethe Institute and the Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies (BIPSS) jointly organised a roundtable on January 30, 2008 at 10 am at the auditorium of the Goethe Institute in the city, says a press release. Major General ANM Muniruzzaman, ndc, psc President, BIPSS moderated the session.Prof Dr Wilfried von Bredow, of the Institute of Political Science, Philipps-University Marburg, Germany, eminent political and security analyst Dr SM Ali, Senior Editorial Coordinator, Asia Pacific Region, BBC, London and Muhammad Zamir, Former Secretary and Ambassador participated in the roundtable as panelists. The roundtable participated by a group of experts in strategic studies. The key issues of strategic change discussed in the roundtable. The event had four sub-themes on issues which are perhaps going to be important factors shaping the international strategic scenario in the near future. The sub-themes are: The Changing Nature of Great Power Relationship, Rise of China and its Strategic Implications, Rise of India and its Strategic Implications, The Dawn of the Asia-Pacific Century. The organisers also invited journalists from the electronic and print media to join a Meet the Press session at 2:30 pm at the Goethe Institute the same day. The journalists meet the panelists of the seminar and roundtable-- Prof Dr Wilfried von Bredow, Dr SM Ali and Ambassador Muhammad Zamir. The Meet the Press session preceded by a brief lunch for journalists at 1:30 pm
