
Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies (BIPSS) organised a round table on “Traffic Congestion in Dhaka: A Strategic Direction for Mitigation"on 18 July 2010 at 11 a.m. at BIPSS conference room. The round table provided a brief abstract on traffic congestion and it also provided a strategic direction for the mitigation of this problem.
Mr. Rashed Islam, PE, PTOE who is currently working in HDR Engineering, Inc. as Vice President and Managing Principal of Austin Downtown office, USA presented the key note at the roundtable. Mr. Islam, based on his years of experience in mitigating traffic congestion, has spent a considerable time to identify issues that create congestion in Bangladesh’s transportation network and developed a list of potential recommendations to better manage traffic congestion, which is an impediment of our prosperity.
The round table wasattended by subject experts and relevant stakeholders. BIPSS president Major General ANM Muniruzzaman, ndc, psc (Retd). chaired the session and it was concluded with a lively discussion among the entourage.
